acid paulijosé noventahermanezakiraA journey beyond sound, a passage through dimensions of rhythm and emotion. More than a DJ, Acid Pauli is a sonic alchemist, blending deep house, minimal techno, world music, and psychedelia into immersive, dreamlike soundscapes.
With a career spanning decades, Martin Gretschmann has shaped the electronic music landscape through hypnotic, cinematic DJ sets that transcend the boundaries of genre and tradition. From Burning Man’s desert expanses to Berlin’s underground, his music is an ever-evolving journey between the conscious and subconscious.
Born in Bavaria, Martin’s musical path began with punk and indie before electronic music took hold in the 90s. Under the alias Console, he released his first tracks in 1995, later joining The Notwist (1997–2014), touring the world and refining his experimental sound. In the early 2000s, Acid Pauli was born, an identity that allowed him to merge club energy with deep, melodic storytelling. His debut album Mst (2012) on Clown & Sunset earned praise alongside names like Ricardo Villalobos and Björk, who sampled his music.
A master of layering, he weaves up to four tracks at a time, creating a dynamic mix of live edits and influences from his travels. His passion for cultural fusion has led to collaborations with Sasha Waltz, traditional musicians in India, and a Leonard Cohen tribute set at Mutek. Whether playing Frue Festival in Japan, crafting film scores, or performing ambient sets at Fondation Beyeler, Acid Pauli’s creativity knows no bounds.
Now, as he launches his new label All is Acid, works on fresh material, and continues his ever-unpredictable global journey, one thing remains constant: his ability to transform dancefloors into otherworldly experiences.
